Personal Training Tip – Vol. 2 Recovery

Today's personal training tip from Mark Villanti is about hydration!

Mark Villanti is the Certified Personal Training Director for Murphy Health & Fitness and a wealth of information on how to train better, eat better, sleep better . . . and all around just get more out of your workouts.

Today’s tip is about recovery.

What’s recovery? Recovery is the time you allow yourself to rest, refuel and restore. Recovery includes normalization of physiological functions . . . think of things like your heart rate returning to normal, restoration of energy stores, and replenishment of cellular energy enzymes.

Mark has a checklist that he follows to ensure he’s getting the recovery he needs. He makes sure he asks himself the following questions and encourages you to do the same.

Mark’s Recovery Checklist

1. Sleep?
2. Nutrition?
3. Micro Nutrients?
4. Supplements “where needed”?
5. Massage, stretching and Fascia release?
6. Hydration “electrolytes”?
7. Sauna sessions?
8. Calories? In check and goal minded?
9. Stress levels?
10. Breathing “are you chest or belly during day”?

Find your weakness and work it. Most people spend more time training instead of recovering. You get leaner, faster and stronger with the latter. Go get it. 💪
