Carmen Cordova Carricaburu

Zumba Instructor

Carmen Cordova Carricaburu is one of our Zumba Fitness and Core Strength Instructor.

She is certified by AFFA to teach Yoga/Pilates Core Strengthening and certified in Zumba Toning.

Born in Cuba, but raised in the Florida Keys where she has spent most of her life.

Carmen worked in Real Estate for 32+ years but retired when she discovered her passion for Zumba. In 2013 she decided to relocate to Murphy and pursue her passion for Zumba at the Hiwassee Valley Pool & Wellness Center(now MHF), which she says is one of the best experiences of her life.

In her spare time, she and her husband spend every day enjoying life and are passionate about living an active lifestyle. She enjoys sharing her passion with others and developing lifelong friendships with all of her students.

Dana Bolyard

Born: Denver, CO

Education: The University of Missouri, BA in European History; The University of Missouri-Kansas City, Juris Doctor.

Charlotte Randall

Power Yoga Instructor

Born: Chattanooga, TN

Education: The University of Wyoming, BA in History

Hobbies: Photography, Camping, Traveling, Antiques, Cooking and Tennessee Football.

From Charlotte: I am passionate about Yoga Instruction! I am American Red Cross certified in CPR and I have my Fitness Certification from the Asheville Yoga Center 200 HR TT. I have two years of Yoga instruction, including classes such as Power Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Yin Yoga and Kundalini.

Suzan McVeen

Shane Strickland

Core Fitness & Endurance Instructor

Shane Strickland is our Core Fitness & Endurance Instructor who has taught the class for five years.

He took interest in fitness through his involvement in martial arts, which he has practiced for 20 years.

He has his second Dan in Taekwondo and is CPR Certified.

In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors, 5k/ Tough Mudder runs and helping people achieve their goals.

Stacy Benjamin

Yoga Instructor

Stacy Benjamin completed her 200 HR teacher training in Rishikesh, India and is certified to teach both Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, and Pranayama.

She has been teaching for a year and half at multiple locations, though practicing for several more.

She enjoys teaching yoga to share with her students the peace, flexibility, strength, and inner tranquility it has brought to her life.

In the past Stacy was a preschool teacher, author and poet.

Now her joys are yoga, kayaking, and spending time with her dog Gus.

She is a graduate from University of Nebraska st Omaha.

Barbara Haydon

Yoga/Pilates Instructor

Born: Fayetteville, N.C.

Education: PhD. Integrative Medicine(HOLOS Univer.), MA in Education and Human Resources Management( Pepperdine Univ), BSN (ECU)

Years teaching group exercise: 18 years

Instructor for: Yoga and Pilates

Fitness/yoga certifications (including CPR)- BLS CPR Certification, Hatha Yoga Certification

Hobbies: hiking, woodturning, quilting, scuba diving,flower gardening.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Core Fitness & Endurance

Moderate to high intensity circuit training appropriate for all fitness levels. This class combines anaerobic and multi-joint exercises that will increase stamina, strength and endurance. Modifications for exercises available.

Core on the Ball

Includes a gentle warm up followed by conditioning, core, balance work and stretching. Many exercises incorporate use of a Swiss Ball. Improves muscle strength and joint flexibility.

Total Body Tabata

A high intensity interval training class that utilizes a wide variety of total body exercises to keep you motivated, rev up your metabolism and give you great results. Easy to follow with modifications for every BODY!

Zumba

Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a fun cardio program.

Zumba Toning

Zumba with the addition of resistance with light weights. This class helps to focus on muscle groups. Zumba is Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a fun cardio program.

Pilates

Lengthen and sculpt your muscles!

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyas style Yoga. All levels are welcome.

Senior Fit

Focuses on flexibility, muscular endurance and core strength for the more experienced adult!

Senior Balance & Fit

Helps seniors regain and improve balance and strength. Most exercises are done seated.

Silver Sneakers Boom Mind

Combination of Yoga and Pilates for the more experienced adult.

Silver Sneakers Boom Move

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscle strength and the range of movement and activities.
